Non-contacting (labyrinth) seals

Non-contacting (labyrinth) seals

FEY Sealing Rings are a simple design, have low space requirements, produce low friction and have a labyrinth effect.  They are reliable and sturdy.  All of these features combine to provide a long service life.  FEY Rings range from 15 to 1300 mm (0.6 to 51 inches) in diameter.  They are produced as either single or double wound with several grades of spring-steel available.

Single Wound FK3 Laminar Rings are used as grease seals for plain and roller bearings to provide protection against dust and environmental moisture.  There are four combinations of the FK3 Rings available.  The ASK and ISK ring sets optimize sealing through an increased labyrinth effect.  The AS and IS have no speed limit for the housing.   (The IS or ISK is preferred since these two arrangements fit into grooves easier.)  The ring carriers can be manufactured from steel, cast iron or plastic.

Double Wound Sealing Rings serve as a grease seal for plain or roller bearings.  They are also used as a protective seal in front of rubber lip seals.  Higher sealing performance is achieved using a FK6.  They are used to exclude grease and provide protection against dust, dirt and splash water.  FK6 Laminar Rings have a high retention force and have no joint gap when compared to an FK3.  The ASKD and ISKD ring sets optimize sealing through an increased labyrinth effect.  The ring carriers can be manufactured from steel, cast iron or plastic.

FK5 / FK5 - HFL Single and Double Wound Sealing Rings

Single and double wound rings are manufactured from special materials and use special processes. FK 5 and FK 5-HFL rings are used when applications require extreme temperature and corrosion resistant properties. Single and double wound laminar sealing rings are used for both rotating and static applications.
